The Town of Oyster Bay has is looking for qualified individuals for the position of Commissioner,Department of Public Safety.

The following qualifications are necessary for consideration:

Significant managerial law enforcement experience; understanding of firefighting and emergency medical practice; experience with maintaining relationships with federal, state and other local agencies; strong background in emergency management planning and policies; working knowledge of current emerging homeland security issues; familiarity with OSHA investigative techniques and safety programs; demonstrated experience with NYS security officer training and program requirements. Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice or related field is preferred.

Director of Safety & Security (Feb 2010)

Primary responsibilities of this leadership position will include managing day-to day operations of the Safety & Security department, supervising and scheduling staff, conducting emergency drills, maintaining and cultivating relationships with the community and police and fire departments, as well as ensuring a safe and secure environment for all residents, staff and visitors in compliance with Federal, State and Local Regulations.

A Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 5+ yrs security experience or equivalent education with 10+ yrs experience in law enforcement or security operations in a supervisory role required. Prior security/safety experience with a large healthcare facility preferred. Candidate must also demonstrate proven leadership skills and the ability to work with the community, possess strong interpersonal, communication and writing skills as well as have knowledge of Microsoft Office.

The position is at a health care facility located in the Bronx with a competitive salary plus all health benefits.
